Instructions for ISTQB Advance Level Exams

ISTQB Test Analyst Exam

  1. Each exam is for ISTQB Advance Level Test Analyst Candidates (CTAL-TA) as per the 2019 (latest) Syllabus.
  2. Each exam consists of 40 Multiple Choice Questions to be answered.
  3. Each question will have 4 or 5 options and only one or two options will be right respectively based on the number of options provided.
  4. As per the exam rules, the exam length is 120 Minutes + 30 Minutes (For participants that take the exam is not in their spoken language).
  5. There is no timer for the exam to give you the convenience of referring to the questions. However, we recommend you keep a timer next to you for better time management.
  6. Each question carries 1, 2, or 3 marks and the total number of possible marks is 80.
  7. The passing criteria will be 52 or more out of 80. Anything below that is a failure.
  8. There is no negative markings in CTAL exam as per the exam rules of ISTQB.
  9. After the completion of the exam, one can see the right answers and justification for each option.

  3. Each question will have 4 or 5 options and only one or two options will be right respectively based on the number of options provided.
  4. As per the exam rules, the exam length is 120 Minutes + 30 Minutes (For participants that take the exam is not in their spoken language).
  5. There is no timer for the exam to give you the convenience of referring to the questions. However, we recommend you keep a timer next to you for better time management.
  6. Each question carries 1, 2, or 3 marks and the total number of possible marks is 78.
  7. The passing criteria will be 51 or more out of 78. Anything below that is a failure.

  5. There is no timer for the exam to give you the convenience of referring to the questions. However, we recommend you keep a timer next to you for better time management.
  6. Each question carries 1, 2, or 3 marks and the total number of possible marks is 115.
  7. The passing criteria will be 75 or more out of 115. Anything below that is a failure.
  8. There is no negative markings in the CTAL exam as per the exam rules of ISTQB.
